Privacy policy

This page explains what PrintProtractor does with your data. The short version: the tool runs in your browser, there is no account and no signup, and the only thing we store is a message if you send one through the contact form.

Who we are

PrintProtractor is a free tool at https://printprotractor.com that makes a print-accurate protractor. You can reach us through the contact form. We are responsible for the limited data described below.

What we collect, and what we do not

The tool runs entirely in your browser. The protractor is drawn and the PDF is built on your device. The size, paper, and settings you choose are never sent to us. We do not see them and we do not store them. If you close the tab, that data is gone.

The one exception is the contact form. If you choose to send a message, you give us your name, your email address, and the text of your message. We store that in our backend (a Supabase database) so we can read it and reply. That is the only personal data we hold, and only because you typed it and pressed send.

We do not run user accounts. There is no signup, no password, no login, and no newsletter on this site. We do not buy or sell personal data, and we do not build advertising profiles ourselves.

Third-party services we use

A few services help us run and, in future, measure the site. Here is the full list and what each one is for. The cookie notice has a shorter version.

Cloudflare (hosting and security)

The site is a static site hosted and delivered through Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may process your IP address and set a strictly necessary cookie to serve pages, protect against attacks, and keep the site online. This is essential to running the site and is not used to track you across other sites.

Cloudflare Turnstile (spam protection)

The contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to tell humans from bots without the usual puzzle. It runs only on the contact page and is there to stop spam submissions.

Supabase (contact messages)

When you send a message through the contact form, the name, email, and message you enter are stored in a Supabase database so we can read it and reply. Nothing else on the site writes to it. Supabase acts as our storage provider under its own terms.

Yandex Metrika (analytics)

We use Yandex Metrika to count visits and see which pages people use, so we know what to improve. It loads only after you accept analytics cookies. It records things like the pages you view and your device and browser type in aggregate, and we are not trying to identify you.

Google AdSense (advertising, not currently active)

We may add Google AdSense in future to help cover the cost of running a free tool. No ads run today. If we turn ads on, they would load only after you accept advertising cookies, and Google and its partners could then set cookies to serve and measure ads, and in some regions to personalize them. Until then, no ads are served.

How we use the data

We use your contact-form message to read it and reply to you. If we add analytics later, we would use it in aggregate to understand traffic and improve the pages. If we add ads later, we would use them to help fund a free tool. We use hosting and spam protection to keep the site up and clean.

Legal basis (GDPR)

If you are in the EEA or UK, here is our legal basis under the GDPR. We rely on your consent, given by choosing to submit the form, to handle your contact message and reply to it. We rely on legitimate interest for essential hosting, security, and basic spam protection. If we later add analytics or personalized advertising, we would rely on your consent for those.

Your rights

You have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to get a copy, to correct it, and to have it deleted. If you are in the EEA or UK you can also object to or restrict certain processing and withdraw consent at any time. If you are in California, the CCPA and CPRA give you the right to know, the right to delete, and the right to opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell your personal information.

Since the only personal data we store is what you send through the contact form, the simplest way to use these rights is to send us a message and tell us what you want done. We will action it.

Cookies and your choices

We keep cookies to a minimum. The site stores one small entry in your browser to remember your cookie-consent choice. Any non-essential cookies, such as analytics or ads if we add them, load only after you accept them. You can accept or reject through the consent banner on your first visit, and you can change your mind at any time from the cookie notice. The cookie notice has the full breakdown.

Data retention

We keep contact-form messages only as long as we need them to handle your request, then we delete them during routine cleanups. The consent entry stays in your browser until you clear it or change your choice. Analytics data is retained by Yandex under its own schedule.

Children

This is a general-audience tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has sent us a message, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and change the "last updated" date at the top. For anything significant we will make the change visible on the site.
